French landscape artist artwork by David Welsh

Quote:

‘ I want my paintings to have evidence of energy

and yet to show the peace that God wants

us all to have as we look upon His wonderful creation '

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

David's work is as sensual and aromatic as the country he is portraying, Morning mists,

shimmering light, iridescent smells and intensity of heat are reflected in his paintings.

The slow painstaking build up of the finished picture surface and his curious love affair with France

shows itself in every stroke of colour that is used...
Colour intensifies the drama of the encounter. Rhythmic work of the pastel energises the paper,

and the textured surface reminds us that we are confronting a rough hewn artfully

constructed piece of work....where each stroke of colour has been thoughtfully and carefully placed.

The light throughout Provence where he currently lives & spends most of his time has inspired artists

down through the years.

David’s paintings have been sold throughout the world and now hang in distinguished homes in :-
France, Italy, America, Canada, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Africa, Switzerland,

Hong Kong, Japan, Australia, New Zealand ....not forgetting our own Islands of Great Britain.

Paintings can arouse our curiosity to open a window upon the world of landscape. It is here that

the admirer touches the innermost thoughts of the artist.

You can see as he saw. Your gaze is the gaze that he engaged in. You will see his vision and purpose

for producing that individual piece of work. You can see that it is not a photograph but rather a

creative process that has been thought through to completion.

The painting you enjoy will impose upon you rhythms, textures, hot, warm or cool hues as

seen only by the artist.
